Family
Bruce was born in Wichita and grew up on a farm in Central Kansas with his parents, an older brother and younger sister. He attended College at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended law school at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

At age 39, when his parents were beginning to think he was a confirmed bachelor, Bruce married Rachel, a woman he met several years earlier through his church’s career singles group. Bruce’s parents have been delighted with Rachel, and treat her as a daughter. Bruce and Rachel have three children who they are raising here in Sedgwick County.

Rachel enjoys being a busy stay-at-home mom. Besides caring for her three active children, she works from home part-time as a medical transcriptionist. She teaches a Mom’s Day Out for a local church, and leads a women’s small group at River Community Church. She also is a member of a philanthropic sorority Delta Epsilon Sigma Alpha.. Rachel enjoys jogging for exercise. This fall she and Bruce ran Johnston’s Wichita Half Marathon together.

Bruce is a very devoted husband and father. Bruce enjoys taking charge of the children’s bedtime. This includes reading books, storytelling of his childhood memories on the farm and prayers. The children look forward to this time with their daddy each night. And mommy catches lots of grief from them when he is gone of an evening.

Asher, 5 or “little man,” as his daddy calls him, loves to fish, hike, swim, play baseball, run, and ride his bike without training wheels. He especially loves challenging his daddy to a game of hide-and-seek, or a sumo-wrestling match.

Lucy, 3, or “Princess” according to her daddy, loves to play with her dolls, and even has two imaginary babies. Lucy is quite chatty and her favorite pastime is playing dress up in her princess clothes and she loves to color. Her favorite color? Brown, of course.

Macy, 1, whom daddy calls “Baby Doll,” is a good-natured, active girl who likes to climb--usually in places she shouldn’t. She also likes to color, but not on paper. Her latest “canvas” was their breakfast bar countertop. Her favorite pastime is pestering her two older siblings.
